Author & Writing Teacher, Deep Gap, NC
Aspiring Writers lead by published authors.
"Write Now! Get Started, Get ORganized & Get Going on Memoir/Novel"
This intense 1 3/4 hr session offers a plan to write & a method to keep organized. The "get going" part of the work session provides direction & tools for writing a better memoir or novel. Writers use their own story for thewriting exercises. For those beginning a novel or memoir, the workshop generates ideas. For those finishing a draft, this is an opportunity to strengthen your story. Memories are family treasures.

"Keeping Libraries Relevant In An Electronic World"
The Web has created a huge shift in how individuals seek information & livraries must be "on the fron line" in this area. Keeping up with technology & ensureing we remain on the cutting edge is of utmost importance. Join us for a panel discusion of what is & will be keeping libraries relevant in the 21st Century.

"Connecting the Reading Heart & the Writing Mind"
Writers are voracious readers, gobbling up other's words as they string together their own. This workshop will feed readers & writers inspiration by providing tools for focused reading. The venue will include online creative activities. Topics covered may include discovering audience, publishing, reading search tools, & creating an online reading journal.

Book Clubs  

"Book Lovers Unite! A Forum & Idea Swap"
Using a discussion format, workshop participants will examine all aspects of book clubs from initial formation, through book selection, to meeting/presentation alternatives. The workshop will help those new to regular book discussions get a club started, offer ideas designed to inject variety into established clubs, and even suggest some discussion methods designed to challenge experienced book club members.

Specific topics include:
~ Starting a Book Club
~ Selecting books - strategies & ideas
~ Using technology - for book selection, discussion ideas & using reading & listening devices
~ Experimenting with Alternative Formats

Location Bo Thomas auditorium and atrium.

Authors meet each other, our volunteers and interested public. Featured authors Jennifer Thompson-Cannino and Ronald Cotton will present their “Picking Cotton” from Saint Martin’s Press. $25 ticket supports our Bookfest. Beverages and heavy Hors D'oeuvres
